This guide advises parents, carers and others who have contact with young people, on the facts about drugs and how they are used. This information can help you decide what to discuss with young people and how and when to do it. It contains quotations from parents and young people.

- Please note that cannabis was reclassified to Class B on 26 January 2009, overtaking the advice given on page 11 and page 17 of the booklet.
- Please note that ketamine is a Class C drug contrary to the advice given on page 11 and page 20 of the booklet.
- Magic mushrooms are a Class A drug whether they are prepared or not, contrary to the advice given on page 11 and page 21 of the booklet.
