Do you know what you are getting with cocaine?

Research shows that cocaine is the second most popular drug used by Scots aged 16 to 22 and that many believe it is harmless.
However, the Scottish Government’s Know the Score campaign kicked off this month (January) with a hard-hitting cinema advert showing that cocaine isn’t the safe party drug many young Scots think it is.
It carries numerous health risks. Immediate effects from cocaine use include an increased heart rate, palpitations, sweating and chest pain. This can result in users becoming agitated and anxious which can turn into panic or paranoia, as well as increasing their chances of having a heart attack or stroke.
This year’s campaign was launched at a Glasgow Parkour Coaching workshop, which showed a group of young Scots who have made a positive choice in their life. This is why this campaign is so important because by making people aware of the dangers of cocaine, they can understand the risks involved and then make positive choices in their lives instead, just as those involved in parkour have done.
The campaign includes a cinema advert running from Friday, January 22 and considerable on-line support starting later that month, including the digital music service, Spotify. There will also be materials on buses and in washrooms in pubs and clubs across Scotland. This will also be supported by media relations
Tell us what you think.
