There are new dedicated partnerships on alcohol and drugs known as Alcohol and Drugs Partnerships (ADPs). These used to be know as Alcohol and Drug Action Teams. There are 30 ADPs in Scotland. Each ADP is firmly embedded within wider arrangements for community planning – i.e. Community Planning Partnerships.
Alcohol & Drug Partnerships (ADPs) have a strategic role in co-ordinating efforts to tackle problem drug use and alcohol misuse in the local area. They are responsible for developing local strategies for tackling alcohol and drugs problems that are based on the needs of the area, evidence and outcomes. ADPs are made up of senior officials from local statutory and non-statutory bodies, including the core partners of health, social work, police, prisons, education and the voluntary sector.
The Scottish Government works in partnership with ADPs and local agencies to ensure the planning and delivery of services meets local needs and priorities.
